How AeroBarrier Helped a 45-Unit Development Achieve Homestar Compliance Without Delaying Construction
When a 45-unit residential development was found to be at risk of missing its Homestar thermal performance targets, the project team faced a difficult challenge. Construction was already well underway, with approximately 50 to 60% of the internal linings installed and trades actively working on site.
Traditional solutions would have required redesign work, costly rework, and significant disruption to the construction programme. Instead, the team turned to AeroBarrier.
By improving building airtightness at a late stage in the project, AeroBarrier provided a practical retrofit solution that helped bridge the performance gap and support the project’s Homestar objectives without major changes to the design.
Working alongside the live construction programme, the AeroBarrier team sealed two units per day, limiting disruption to around half a day per dwelling. This allowed the development to stay on track while improving performance outcomes across the entire project.
