Stage 1. Initial airtightness testing.
One Tree Hill College is undertaking a deep retrofit of an ex-state house from Māngere East where Kāinga Ora - Home and Communities are doing a major redevelopment programme. The One Tree Hill College Trade Academy is working in partnership with Kāinga Ora to upgrade this house into a healthy, dry, home while preparing our pre-trade students for building apprenticeships.
Three three townhouses airsealed to below 1.5 ACH50 in one day, exceeding Homestar 6, version 5 standards. Built to rent, the owner wanted to provide tenants with comfortable, energy efficient and healthy homes to live in. Both the builders and energy modeler found AeroBarrier's performance simple and dependable, offering a superior solution for meeting airtightness targets compared to traditional methods.
AeroBarrier has completely transformed our approach to air sealing, allowing us to quickly and precisely seal even the smallest leaks in a matter of hours. This technology ensures our homes are incredibly airtight, improving energy efficiency and overall comfort while maintaining high construction standards. AeroBarrier allows us to consistently deliver really high-quality Mandalay Homes.
AeroBarrier is a revolutionary air sealing system that drastically improves energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and comfort by automatically sealing even the smallest leaks. After just 90 minutes of applying AeroBarrier, we achieved an airtightness of 0.3 ACH50, making this the tightest and most energy-efficient house I've ever built, far surpassing code requirements.
New Tradition Homes has always prioritized building high-performance, energy-efficient homes that meet the highest standards, like Energy Star, while maintaining a strong commitment to family values and quality. With the help of AeroBarrier's innovative sealing technology, they were able to improve their homes' airtightness significantly, going from 2.5 air changes per hour to as low as 0.6, ensuring lasting energy efficiency and comfort for their customers.
AeroBarrier is an innovative solution that automatically finds and seals hidden leaks that builders and traditional methods can't easily address, making the air sealing process both effortless and highly effective. Its ability to solve these problems in an intuitive and labor-saving way makes it a no-brainer for improving building envelopes in any home

Australian homes can be made climate-ready, reducing bills and emissions – a new report shows how.
Millions of homes were built before Australia introduced housing energy efficiency standards in 2003. They’re leaky. Gaps around windows, doors and between building materials allow air to move in and out. So people tend to compensate, with more heating and cooling. It’s costly and damaging for the environment.
Using a national sample of 102,000 Australian homes across all 69 climate zones, we identified the most common housing types. Then we worked out how to make them “climate ready” and what benefits would flow.
Tadashi Shiga is a recognised expert in the green building industry and a proponent of innovative construction technologies. As the founder of Evergreen Certified, he has extensive experience in promoting sustainable building practices. Shiga recommends AeroBarrier, an advanced air sealing technology, for its ability to significantly improve a building’s energy efficiency and indoor air quality. He emphasizes that AeroBarrier’s precise and efficient application process ensures superior airtightness, which is crucial for achieving high-performance building standards and reducing overall energy consumption.
Airtightness enhances a building’s energy efficiency by minimising the exchange of indoor and outdoor air through unintended gaps and cracks.
By controlling air leakage, buildings can better maintain consistent indoor temperatures, reducing the energy required for heating and cooling.
Less air leakage will enhance a ventilation systems effectiveness, as it allows for greater control over what air is moved, where it goes, and when that happens. Effective ventilation in an airtight building means inhabitants can breathe cleaner air and live warmer, healthier lives.
